The Trenton Public School District proudly announces that 131 graduating seniors have earned the New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy, an honor that recognizes students who have attained proficiency in English and at least one other language. This distinction not only reflects students’ academic achievement but also their dedication to becoming effective communicators in a global society.
The Seal of Biliteracy, established to honor the value of bilingualism and biliteracy, promotes language learning as a vital 21st-century skill. Students who earn the seal are equipped with cultural competence and linguistic skills that give them a competitive edge in college admissions, scholarship opportunities, and the global workforce.
"This recognition is more than just an academic achievement, it represents the power of language to connect, empower, and open doors," said Yared Velazquez, ESL/Bilingual secondary supervisor.
"We are incredibly proud of these students for embracing their multilingual identities and demonstrating such a strong commitment to global citizenship."
The district commends these students for their hard work and celebrates the rich linguistic diversity that strengthens our schools and community.
