Will the Parker School building be open in September?

Yes. The school will be open by appointment only. Please call 609-656-4880

Will the new school year be hybrid learning or virtual learning?

The school year will begin with all students virtual (learning from home).

When is the first day of school?

The first day of school is Thursday, September 10, 2020. 

Who is my child’s teacher?

You may log into Power School to view your child’s schedule. It will identify your child’s teacher.

If we are totally virtual, will I meet my child's teacher?

All meet and greets will occur virtually with your child’s teacher.

How can I register my child?

You may call the school at 609-656-4880 to schedule an appointment for registration.

How can I transfer my child?

You may call the school or email with your request to transfer.

How can I update my contact information?

Proof of address is needed to change your address. Phone numbers may be updated via email request.

How can I obtain a Chromebook for distance learning?

All students will be offered and issued a chrome book device. If you have not received one, call the school 609-656-4880 or email your request to make an appointment to pick one up.

Who can help me setup my Chromebook?

Chrome books are pre-configured. Students will enter their student ID # as the username and password for full access to the device.

How do I use google classroom? 

 

You have to sign into the Chromebook using your student ID#. Click on the google classroom icon, accept the invitation from your teacher.

How do I login to Google Classroom?

You log into Google Classroom using your six digit ID# for the email and password.

What is my child’s student ID number?

It is the six-digit number that you will find on the Power School Parent Portal.

What is my child’s school email?

Student ID # “@trenton.k12.nj.us”

How can I get internet access for my child’s Chromebook?

You can call the school and they will assist with getting a hotspot or you can contact Comcast.

What do I do if my child’s Chromebook breaks?

You must contact the school immediately to make an appointment to bring in for examination by the technician.

How can I get in contact with my child’s teacher?

Each teacher has an email. You may visit the school webpage and the teacher’s email address is listed. Additionally, Class Dojo is an effective way of contacting the teacher if you have set up the account with the teacher.

Will there be a regular schedule, or will the schedule be rotating for groups of students?

 

During virtual learning, all students must attend every day. When the school moves to hybrid learning, the students will be rotating the days they will be in school and virtual.

 

How will attendance be taken?

 

Students must log in every day at 8:00 am and participate throughout the day according to the school schedule.

 

Will I and my child be able to speak/get help with the teacher individually?

 

The teacher will work with students in small groups and individually as needed. You may also send the teacher an email to schedule an appointment to meet with the teacher regarding your child’s progress.

 

What schedule will my child follow? 

While we are virtual, all students will have classes from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm with frequent breaks and lunch.

Will my child have Specials like Art, Music, Computers, Health/Physical Education, and Library?

Yes. Students will have a special daily.

How will the needs of students who receive 504, special education, bilingual, or ESL services be met?

The teachers will work with students in small groups and individually to ensure students are receiving their intended services during virtual learning 

What if my child receives Speech and Language Services?

The speech teacher will work with your child to ensure they are receiving speech services.

What school supplies do I need to purchase for my child?

Headphones, crayons, pens, pencils, notebooks, dry erase markers.

How will I know that my child is staying on track with their learning?

The Power School Parent Portal will allow you to see your child’s grades in real time.

How does the teacher see my child's work?

 

Student work is submitted through Google Classroom. The teacher will review all student work

Will my child be using Google Meet?  

Yes. Teachers will be conducting live teaching using Google Meets and your child will need to have access.

 

Will food be available for pickup?

The Trenton Public Schools will designate the breakfast/lunch schedules and sites to pick up food.
