Want to become a Model UN Club Member and explore global awareness while improving your writing and research skills? Want to meet new friends, and gain new experiences? Please see Mr. McCamy to start the Club application process. There is an application process prior to acceptance into the club. Each member must help fundraise, research, write a country research paper, and meet all deadlines.

Model United Nations Club is a small group of about 10 students. Each student is assigned a nation to represent at the annual YMCA Conference held in Hershey, PA each January. Students then break off into committees and debate global issues, and draft resolutions in hopes of solving worldwide problems. Students gain great experience in research, debate, and public speaking, all the while building confidence, meeting new friends, and having fun.
The Club fundraises throughout the year in order to raise money to attend the conference. The big activity each year is the conference, which is a three day, two night stay at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA. Over 1,500 students from over 35 schools and 4 different states fill the hallways, and meeting rooms. Each day is filled with debate in committee sessions, and fun activities. It is truly a rewarding experience.

After the conference, students focus on fundraising for the next year and recruitment of the some of the best students in the school. Writing and speaking skills are a must, but of course we will work to improve those skills together as a club. It is a small, tight knit group where everyone contributes.

"So let us wage a glorious struggle against illiteracy, poverty, and terrorism, let us pick up our books and our pens, they are the most valuable weapons."
